Bedroned drone spraying weeds and crops

Drone Spraying

Aerial spraying was traditionally performed by light aircraft or helicopters. Advanced technology drones like beDroned's DJI Agras T40 have revolutionised pesticide, herbicide and fertilizer application. Benefits of drone applications include :

  • Cost effectiveness
  • Precise dispersal
  • Reduced drift
  • Easy access to difficult terrain
  • Fully AusChem certified flight crew

Aerial Spreading

Seed and fertilizer can be applied using the Agras T40 spreading hopper. The T40 is capable of dispersing up to 1.5 tonnes per hour. Payload is dispersed evenly and can exceed the crop efficiency of ground spreading seed such as canola.

Drone spreading has no impact on soil, unlike heavy machinery, and is ideal for over seeding of crops and in accessing specifically targeted areas.

Farm mapping

See your farm as you have never seen it before. The beDroned Agras T40 together with our Mavic multispectral drone can provide 3D mapping, multispectral analysis of crops and near infrared mapping. NVDI multispectrum can provide information for targetted fertilizer application saving time and money.

Crop mapping

The Mavic 3 multispectral drone features a 20MP RGB camera for regular photography plus a multispectral camera with four 5MP lenses, collecting data in the Green, Red, Red Edge, and Near Infrared. These images provide crop analysis information for targetted fertilizer or reseeding application saving money.

Pricing

If we ask "how much to fix my car" the answer would be "depends what's wrong with it!" So too, drone costing depends on what work you want done. Our quotes are based on water application rates, complexity of terrain, number and type of obstacles, number of relocations of the drone marshalling point, chemicals required, travel distance as well as the area to be covered. In most cases we send our mapping drone out to gain a full appraisal of the terrain first. High resolution photographs are taken every second which are stitched together using software in our office. This detailed photograph is used to generate the flight paths for the T40.

Save on chemicals

The map created for the T40 can ensure that chemical is only applied where it is needed, reducing the amount of chemical applied and saving money. In automated flight, the drone turns on its pumps only when prescribed by the map.

    About Us

    Chief Remote Pilot

Chief Remote Pilot (CRP) and CEO, Ian has held a RAA pilot licence for more than twenty years and is a fully certified drone pilot. Ian grew up on a mixed farm and from an early age learned about the need for weed control helping his Dad drag a hose and a 44 on a trailer. Now, farming Angus cattle in the Strzeleckis, weed control has an added degree of difficulty with mountainous terrain. He uses a Phantom 4 to help with mustering and also with T40 certification and a Mavic 3ME for mapping, tackles weeds with ease.

    Ground Crew / Administration

Heather operates the beDroned state-of-the-art drone trailer. She is quite protective of her rig that mixes and dispenses chemicals and refuels the drone with electrons. She is the busiest of our on-task crew juggling four or more tasks at once. Back in the office, Heather takes charge of beDroned accounts and administration.

    More Info

    Assistant Ground Crew

When she's not sleeping, she's eating. Then and only then, Maisy loves to ride on things... tractor, quad-bike, front seat of the ute. She'd have a go on the drone if she could, especially if food was involved!

    LINKS TO OUR FRIENDS

    C.R Kennedy

Our drone journey began in ernest after meeting Jeff and Chang at Lardner field days. We have since met Robert, William and others in the drone team. C.R Kennedy are importers of DJI products and have been more than helpful with backup and support.

    RPASEquip

These guys had us up and running with RePL to 25kg, radio operators certificate, and perpared our ReOc for submission to our choice of CASA or CASA Delegate. We chose the latter option for expediency as the CASA guys are understandably pretty busy. Rob's on-line classes are really comprehensive for learning the theory, and if you are lucky enough to have your flight test with Graham at Point Cook, a retired fighter jet pilot, then you're in for an aviation treat.

    FPV Australia

To fly the big drone in the 150kg category our CRP required a type rating certificate. This flight test was done by John from FPV who courteously fitted us in at short notice. BeDroned team had a very pleasant visit to Cootamundra with our drone on board for the test. John also very kindly updated our ReOC for resubmission to CASA.

    Field Master Systems

These guys were contracted by C.R Kennedy to provide our T40 setup. We had a great day with Dave who is a former Virgin Airlines mechanical engineer. Another of their team was a former A330 airline pilot who had a change of direction during Covid. Their story featured on Landline and can be seen here >>    [LandlineStory]

    DRONESFORHIRE

These guys offer drone packages as well as run multiple field days throughout the year so if you're into drones, sign up for their newsletters. They also run online training and we've had some great sessions on workflow, mapping, field planning and QJIS with their Techno Geek Guru Danny.
